Job Description:
This position performs a variety of plumbing, piping, electrical control, carpentry, concrete finishing, landscape construction and installation, horticulture and arboriculture tasks as directed to support maintenance and project activity. This position can layout and run drainage pipe, irrigation lines, control wiring for irrigation and other utility lines. This position requires supervision of lower level members as well as have the ability to work alone to complete installation and preventive maintenance to irrigation and drainage systems, and/or upgrades and new projects. This position must be able to plan, purchase and execute projects.
Job Duties:
Perform drain piping installation and repair work and as necessary to support landscape maintenance and construction. Work performed includes, but is not limited to: irrigation system installation and other plumbing activities such as storm sewer line relocation or installation, storm water piping, building of catch basins and conflict boxes, assisting with concrete forms and placement, bollard installation, fence installation, equipment operation such as excavator, jet machine, trencher, or backhoe, and maintenance (cleaning) of drain lines and basins.-65%
Plan and layout piping, irrigation, and other plumbing systems as directed. Purchase supplies. Maintain supplies of materials on the job and on work trucks to support projects and tasks. -15%
Perform preventive maintenance and irrigation system inspection and programming to assure proper operation of irrigation systems-10%
Perform equipment repair (which may include welding/torch cutting) and cleaning to assure proper operation on a daily basis.-5%
Perform other tasks as required -5%
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
+ Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
+ This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
+ This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
+ In accordance with PS-18 this position maybe required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods. Able to reach and/or climb a ladder and bend their back.
+ This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
