**Job Description** The York site of BAE Systems is currently seeking a Maintenance Person Mechanic to support the 3rd Shift operation, 10pm to 6:30am, due to ongoing expansion and new role additions. This position occasionally requires optional weekend work and is union represented. The req has been reopened to fill the position as previous candidates have transitioned into new roles, and we are looking for a qualified individual to join our team. Responsibilities include: + Install, maintain, dismantle, and repair heavy industrial machinery, including: + Machine tools (multi-axis, CNC mills, boring mills) + Hydraulic and pneumatic systems + Material handling equipment (cranes, hoists, balancers) + Paint/blast booths and automated welding systems + Operate mobile vehicle equipment including forklifts, telescoping forklifts, scissor and articulating lifts + Perform basic and advanced rigging for planned lifting operations + Use various tools and equipment, including hand/power tools, and machining tools + Assist other trades during machine outages and scheduled PM s + Assist maintenance planning in determining correct materials for projects + Review preventive maintenance activities for accuracy. Submit changes as necessary + Maintain a clean and safe work area, and return tools and equipment to designated storage areas **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** This job is required to operate in a manufacturing environment, where use of respiratory protection may be required. Individuals required to wear respiratory protection must achieve medical approval and pass fit testing. Completion of a state certified apprenticeship program in relevant field: mechanical, millwright, OR AS Degree/BS degree in relevant technical field and 3 years industrial experience in mechanical or millwright trade, OR 5 years documented experience in heavy industrial machine repair or millwright with experience, rigging, replacing gear boxes, troubleshooting and repair of heavy equipment pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Ability to read schematics. Must have experience with: + Working off written work instructions. + Determining and obtaining the necessary tools, materials and equipment to perform the assigned job. + Operating drill presses, threading machines, hydraulic presses, burning and welding equipment. + Operating mobile tractors, trucks, overhead (pendulum and radio controlled) and jib cranes. + Re-assembling, testing, and adjusting mechanical equipment to obtain proper operating characteristics. + Personal computers or data acquisition devices (i.e. bar-code). **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + High School Diploma or GED + Journeyman's certification or Apprenticeship or 2yr Degree **Pay Information** This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
