Maintenance Mechanic
**Job Overview:** Performs duties expected of a mechanical technician, and carpenter. Ability to work well with customers and other employees. Work from verbal or written instructions, sketches, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, vendor manuals and must comply with all state, municipal or facility codes and specifications. Performs repairs and preventive maintenance to real property facilities and equipment. Performs all work in a safe and secure and timely manner. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures to include unstopping sinks, toilets, changing supply lines, p-traps and faucets. + Troubleshooting and performs preventative maintenance on evaporative coolers to include changing filters off all types and verifying power supply. + Must have ability to change lamps in light fixtures. + Change switch and outlet covers. + Perform all forms of carpentry work to include carpet or flooring installation, installing or repairing doors and cabinet and all necessary roof repairs. + Repair/Replace drywall, texture and painting of walls/woodwork. + Repair/Replace windows. + Repair of tile and concrete. + Repair or replace locks or panic hardware, roll-up doors and hardware + Participation in all APTIM/HDSS EHS and Quality procedures. + Ability to identify location of required parts and materials. + Cross training/sharing of SME within department. + Ability to use equipment manuals and follow and understand manufacturers' specifications to include the M.S.D.S. + Must be able to act professionally in the presence of the public and co-worker + Must be able to accurately track time, work orders, and parts using electronic devices. + Communication with customers to identify specific and general requirements and to complete service order paperwork to include documentation of all work performed. + Housekeeping -- cleaning office and shop areas. **Basic Qualifications:** + Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. + Applicant must have 3 years' experience in maintenance and repair as defined in the above summary(must provide proof of experience). + Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License **Working Conditions:** Position: Extensive periods outdoors. Frequent exposure to dust, desert pollen, extreme heat and cold associated with desert environment and natural conditions existing on Fort Irwin.
