MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Evendale Bakery - Cincinnati, Ohio

Non-exempt Position – Full Time

2nd Shift – 1pm to 9pm Monday through Thursday (Friday if OT) 6am to 2pm Friday (Saturday if OT)


The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and repairs production equipment on a daily basis, in addition to maintaining and repairing equipment in all other areas of the plant facility to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. Refrigeration equipment must also be maintained to enable a quality product to be produced and stored since temperatures are critical within the production. General upkeep of the building and outside premises must also be maintained as well as inventory control of parts & supplies. Maintenance Mechanics are expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company’s Core Values. This position description does not contain a comprehensive list of required duties and responsibilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is expected to perform related duties assigned by management, which may be added, revised, or eliminated based on business and operational needs, with or without advance notice. Maintenance Mechanics must follow the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Manager.



What we are looking forHigh School diploma or GED required; A minimum of 1 year of general maintenance experience preferred; and Must have previous experience and/or education in refrigeration, electrical and programable controls, 480 voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, high pressure pumps, air compressors, welding, fabrication; carpentry, plumbing, and pipefitting; Knowledgeable and experienced with refrigeration, electrical and programmable controllers, 480 voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, high pressure pumps, air compressors, welding, fabrication; carpentry, plumbing, and pipefitting; Must supply own basic hand tools; Possess an adequate knowledge of safe lifting procedures and be able to follow instructions; Good understanding of the basic lockout program and proper procedures for safety, in particular keeping hands and all other objects out of moving equipment parts is required; Skilled to read blueprints and schematics; Ability to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running; Must be proficient with shop tools, machinery disassembly & repair, and basic electrical troubleshooting; Talented to learn new equipment and understand and recommend equipment modifications; Proficient with the assembly and disassembly of production equipment; Possess solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills including root cause analysis; Understand lean processes and continuous improvement topics; Good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to give and take direction, and follow detailed instructions; Focused to learn, apply and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures; Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment; Capability to concentrate and accomplish multiple tasks on one’s own initiative and within established timeframes; Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. In addition, late nights or weekend work will be required from routine equipment preventative maintenance programs to emergency calls; andAbility to successfully complete on-the-job training. 


What you will doMaintain and repair production equipment including the proofer, oven, cooling tunnel, spiral freezer, building, outside premises, and other equipment; Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment during production and non-production hours as scheduled; Maintain and repair refrigeration and HVAC systems; Observe and diagnose equipment malfunctions and issues with PLC’s; Responsible for maintaining the maintenance shop and equipment; Assemble and disassemble production equipment; Design and fabricate specialty items needed for production and/or production equipment; Follow all company safety rules including LOTO, arc flash, and OSHA guidelines; Participate in technical courses or seminars for professional development as needed; Maintain inventory of parts and supplies; Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures; Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures; Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers in professional manner, display a pleasant demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs; Provide training to new team members when requested; and Must perform the above-mentioned duties in a safe and efficient manner.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Capability to work in an environment with flour dust and frequent exposure to heat and cold conditions;Possess the aptitude to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment; Ability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, hearing protection and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;Ability to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds assisted or unassisted;Prolonged periods of standing and walking;Engage in prolonged repetitive use of fine motor skills, including but not limited to working with small parts, electronics, and hand tools; Frequent bending, twisting, turning, climbing, stooping, or standing; Proficiently move quickly and safely in confined areas;Visual inspection of parts and mechanical processes; andAbility to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
