The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and repairs production equipment and other equipment throughout the meat plant facility to minimize downtime, maximize efficiency and performed in a timely safe and sanitary manner. This position is responsible for maintaining refrigeration equipment to enable production of a quality product and storage since temperatures are critical within the plant. General upkeep of the building and outside premises must also be maintained. Maintenance Mechanics are expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company’s Core Values. Maintenance Mechanics are expected to perform related duties assigned by management, which may be added, revised, or eliminated based on business and operational needs, with or without advance notice. Maintenance Mechanics must follow the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, and the Plant Manager.
Zanesville Meat Plant – Zanesville, OH
Full-Time Non-Exempt (Hourly)
2nd shift – 1:30pm – 10:00pm OR 3:00pm – 11:30pm
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORHigh School diploma or GED required; and at least 1-3 years of general maintenance experience required;Required to have previous work experience and/or education in the following areas: Refrigeration, 480 3-phase voltage electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, air compressors, welding;Must supply own basic hand tools;Possess an adequate knowledge of safe lifting procedures and be able to follow instructions given by the person in charge, while working closely with the Quality Assurance Department Personnel;Good understanding of the basic lockout program and proper procedures for safety, in particular keeping hands and all other objects out of moving equipment parts is required;Skilled to read blueprints and schematics;Ability to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running;Must be proficient with shop tools, machinery disassembly & repair, and basic electrical troubleshooting;Talented to learn new equipment and understand and recommend equipment modifications;Possess solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills;Good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to give and take direction, and follow detailed instructions;Focused to learn, apply, and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;Capability to concentrate and accomplish multiple tasks on one’s own initiative and within establishedtimeframes; andTalented to successfully complete on-the-job training.
