Maintenance Manager - Crowne Plaza Geelong (Pre-Opening)

In partnership with Plenary Group, IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is bringing its world-class Crowne Plaza brand to the Victorian regional city of Geelong. Scheduled to open in 2026, Crowne Plaza Geelong will redefine premium accommodation, offering a sophisticated stay for both leisure and corporate travellers. It will form part of the highly anticipated Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre precinct, a transformative development featuring a 1,000-seat convention centre, exhibition spaces, and a vibrant retail and hospitality hub. Located in the heart of the emerging precinct, this 200-room hotel will feature spacious suites, an extensive restaurant and bar offering, pool, gym, and meeting facilities. Our guests’ safety and comfort always comes first. Which is why we are seeking out a master multi-tasker with the repair skills needed to keep our brand-new hotel looking and feeling its absolute best. Our Maintenance Manager (pre-opening) will lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs. **A little taste of your day-to-day** + Every day is different, but as part of the pre-opening team, you will play a key role in ensuring this new hotel is ready to welcome its first guests, including: + Conduct appropriate facilities inspection, including guest rooms, public areas, back of house etc. To identify any defects in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, FF&E and coordinate with contractors and vendors on any repairs or installation prior to opening. + Oversee procurement of hotel equipment and machinery and ensure all equipment is installed and in working order prior to opening. + Ensure the hotel meets all safety and regulatory requirements including compliance with building codes, fire safety regulations, and health standards. + Recruitment of key maintenance team and coordinating onboarding and training to ensure the team is set up for success from day one and beyond and presents positively towards both guests and colleagues alike. + Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimising waste and meeting our green initiatives. + Work with the hotel finance team to develop budgets and forecasts for the maintenance department. + Liaise with contractors and vendors to develop and maintain maintenance agreements and good working relationships for the ongoing needs and success of the hotel. + Create a preventative maintenance programme that creates a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy. + Managing daily maintenance needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task. + Creating a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy. + Be flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed. **What we need from you** + Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience + Professional certification and licence if required by law + Hotel experience preferred + A demonstrated capability of collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities. + Strong communication skills and passionate about developing your team. + Strategic thinking, the ability to explore new ways of working and have an open mind around how we can drive the Hotel forward. + Must be fluent in English and other languages preferred. + Full working rights in Australia without restrictions. **What you can expect from us:** We give our people everything they need to succeed.
