Maintenance Manager- Devens, MA
The Opportunity:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing hands on expertise and leadership to the maintenance staff while ensuring the safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of Smurfit WestRock’s plant assets. Your role will also be responsible for leading continuous improvement of plant operations to enable efficient, high-quality production of customer products.
Machine uptime is critical to our success. There are no redundancies in our operation.
This position is located at the Wakefield, MA Corrugated Container facility

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Directs, maintains, participates in and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA standards. Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.Utilizes and maintains JDE system for tracking work orders, PM’s, monitors spare parts, and provide maintenance history of plant equipment. Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance performance indicators such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM/WO completions, etc.Ensures that maintenance employees are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.Conducts salaried performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the salaried maintenance staff. Provides for training and development as well as coaching and discipline of both salaried and union employees.Assists in the budgeting, capital planning and financial review of plant performance.Maintains compliance with all environmental policies and procedures; ensures that all city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Required.7+ years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing facility – Required.2 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager within heavy industry.Strong Leadership skills and team accountability to the highest safety and work standards.Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis to implement preventative methods. Experience with budget management and planning.Ability to work within a 24/7 plant operations facility.Strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions which could impact safety, uptime, and productivity.Ability to coach and develop talent to create a highly productive, safety-conscious team. Strong communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this position is $99,375.00 - $165,625.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
