Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit three (3) Maintenance Leading Hands to join and grow our team. the primary role  is to supervise & manage all maintenance activities to ensure they are conducted safely, and efficiently. This includes staff development, training, and competency assessment to continuously improve maintenance efficiency for the mobile equipment maintenance in the underground. The role demands a demonstrated level in safety, environmental, supervision and strong problem-solving skills in order to ensure that the maintenance of mobile plant at Kibali is carried out in a way that optimizes the value for the business in the short and the long term.

Responsibilities  

Supervising and leading all mechanical processes and automation operations In UG Mobile Fleet. Creating and implementing maintenance procedures. Conducting regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems. Planning and managing all repair and installation activities. Ensuring all department workers adhere to the safety policies and procedures. Assigning repair schedules and evaluating repair cost estimates. Documenting and preparing daily progress reports and maintenance logs. Overseeing equipment stock and placing orders for new supplies when necessary Strong commitment to safety and risk management processes. Management of maintenance personnel, including but not limited to overseeing their performance, training and development. Liaises closely with the Mining, Engineering and Technical Services teams to ensure that maintenance work is planned to minimize the impact upon mining operations. Evaluates equipment performance and uses the knowledge to develop improved maintenance strategies. Safe and efficient operations in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Develop and promote the culture of "Journey to Zero” in the workplace Inspection activities and follow-up of recommendations. Event investigation and follow-up of recommendations. Supervision of all new project and construction activities. Quality assurance and control for all platform activities relating to maintenance. Integrity and availability of all equipment on the installation. Gathering of data in support of equipment condition monitoring. Environmental monitoring, compliance and reporting. Provide feedback to OEM to enable improvements to the equipment or its operation. Develop and upskill the national workforce.  Provide contribution in a safe and costs-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with mine safety standards, policies and procedures and ensure daily targets are met.   Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards. 

Qualification requirements 

Electro-Mechanic/ Engineer Certificate III in Mechanic Trade Studies

Experience and competencies needed 

Minimum of 5 years in similar role related to operations or maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working in Remote locations  Minimum of 5 years working with Sandvik Equipment’s  Ability to work under pressure Personnel management skills
