Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen Equipment & Technician to join our team . In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the optimal performance of commercial kitchen equipment in various food service establishments throughout the area.

Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and food preparation machinesPerform routine preventive maintenance on kitchen  and laundry equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevityTroubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions in a timely mannerInstall new kitchen equipment and ensure proper setup and functionalityRead and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagramsAdhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working with electrical, gas, and plumbing systemsMaintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory of parts and suppliesCollaborate with kitchen staff and management to minimize equipment downtime and optimize kitchen operationsStay updated on the latest technologies and advancements in commercial kitchen equipmentProvide technical guidance and training to kitchen staff on proper equipment usage and basic maintenanceConduct energy efficiency assessments on kitchen equipment and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve sustainability and reduce operational costsDevelop and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all kitchen equipment to minimize unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment lifespanCoordinate with suppliers and vendors for ordering replacement parts and new equipment as neededAssist in the development of kitchen equipment budgets by providing input on repair costs, replacement needs, and lifecycle projectionsParticipate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with the latest advancements in commercial kitchen equipment technology and repair techniques

 

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or technical certification in kitchen  and laundry equipment repair preferredMinimum of 2-3 years of experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenanceProven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing various types of kitchen equipmentStrong knowledge of electrical, gas, and plumbing systems as they relate to kitchen equipmentAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagramsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailFamiliarity with food safety and sanitation standardsKnowledge of local health and safety regulations in , ZambiaRelevant certifications in gas fitting, electrical work, or appliance repair (preferred)Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory managementStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environmentPhysical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, reaching)Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
