Maintenance I – Entry – LV4 - Mold Change
Salary Grade: Hourly
Basic Function:Responsibility for mold change process on all machines. Safely and effectively set up and complete mold changes in a timely manner. Record data and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
Complete mold changes accurately and in required time frame on One-Step, Injection, Two Step assigned machines. Work as part of team with maintenance and machine operators to ensure effective mold change and PM activities are completed.Stage molds and changeover parts prior to mold changes for maximum efficiency in changes.Assist maintenance personnel in completion of regular preventive maintenance activities in conjunction with mold changes.Use computer applications (including CDM Apriso, FMS/SAP) to view production schedule and plan appropriately for upcoming tooling changes. Meet with necessary personnel to plan each day’s activities.Clean outside of machine after mold change and turn over to production personnel in proper condition.Clean molds and changeover parts prior to storage and store in proper location.Troubleshoot minor electrical problems on machine molds.Perform inspections on mold components, make minor repairs as necessary and record information on proper forms.Record mold change information on proper forms. Identify and communicate any tooling or machine issues and communicate to appropriate personnel.Actively identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, safety, effectiveness and timeliness of mold changes and present suggestions to appropriate personnel.Maintain a safe and clean work area in accordance with Company standards.Learn and gain expertise on new equipment and processes.Utilize Levels training program to increase technical skill, knowledge and cross training with all machines that you are supporting. It is expected that mold change personnel utilize the levels program and grow in skill to promote activity into Preventative and Shift Maintenance as open positions become available.Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as documented in the policy.Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and as stated in the various safety-related training programs. Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel. Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).May perform other related assignments at the direction of supervision.Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the tooling supervisor.
Education/Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions. High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Previous experience operating or maintaining blow-molding and/or injection-molding machines preferred. Industrial Maintenance Degree strongly preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Good written and verbal communications skills are required. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Incumbent must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills: Must have strong mechanical aptitude. Incumbent must have own set of basic tools for job. Must complete required training in all machines in order to understand proper mold change procedures. Must be familiar with all sections of Master Process Book. Must be able to use necessary computer applications (including CDM Apriso, FMS, & Lotus Notes).
Other: Strong organizational skills required. Incumbent must be able to plan own work activities based upon production schedule. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule. Must be willing to go to 12 hour night shift as well. In addition, incumbent must be able to occasionally work past normal shift change to complete mold changes. Incumbent must be willing to demonstrate schedule flexibility as business needs require as well as for coverage for vacations and other absences.
Physical: Must be capable of standing and walking on production floor for length of production shift. Will be required to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Must occasionally squat, bend, kneel, reach, etc., in order to carry out essential functions of the position.
