Maintenance Foreman

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Maintenance Foreman to join and grow our team. The Shaft Underground Fitter will be responsible to investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repairs on equipment/machinery in accordance with sound engineering practices and equipment specifications.

Responsibilities  

Always maintain a safe workplace and safe systems of work for all underground fitters and associated personnel.  Support and manage OH&S policies in your area of responsibility.  To ensure the safe operational integrity of plant is always maintained without being compromised.  To ensure policies and standards are always adhered to developing consistent performance.  Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities of subordinates are clearly communicated according to roles on site.  To ensure manning levels are at an adequate level to maintain availability of equipment.  To enter and maintain a database with the maintenance and performance details at the operations.  Compile relative maintenance data from plant repairs for input into Maintenance program and inclusion into monthly report.  To ensure that all plant is maintained to the same specifications as provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).  Ensure personnel achieve the highest standards of maintenance and repairs along with the highest standard of safety.  The coordination of preventative scheduled and breakdown maintenance for the site.   Ensure that all preventative maintenance servicing, that includes daily servicing, and two (2) weekly servicing are completed as per the maintenance policy. Ensure that the Procurement of routine maintenance consumable and breakdown spare parts.  Cost Management – to ensure maintenance personnel cost code correctly, that all efforts are made to reduce costs by effective expenditure and reduced wastage.  Retrieve, collate and enter all relevant information for plant into the maintenance database.  Review all service schedules for plant prior to posting and to ensure that adequate labors and parts are available to complete the preventative and scheduled repairs.  To ensure that all service literature is completed correctly and provides all information required.  Ensure that all operational personnel are suitable skilled and have completed the relevant safe work procedure for the duties they are designated.  Liaise with the Project Manager with issues relating to plant operation and availability for maintenance. Conduct formal meetings weekly with the Project manager to ensure a clear line of communication exists between both departments. Provide contribution in a safe and costs-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with mine safety standards, policies and procedures and ensure daily targets are met.   Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards. 

Qualification requirements 

Electro mechanics engineer  High School or Equivalent Certification Heavy Vehicle or equivalent Trade Certificate Hydraulic or equivalent Training or courses.

Experience and competencies needed 

High level of experience in Maintenance (Underground equipment), Specialized but not limited to Sandvik, Atlas, Normet, Caterpillar, Maclean Equipment Experience in all aspects of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems  Mobile Equipment or Hydraulic Equivalent Trade certificate Minimum of 5years on the job training advancing upwards into the Maintenance Foreman position Minimum of 3years underground experience (Hard Rock Mining) Able to read hydraulic Schematics Able to do a proper troubleshooting/diagnosis on equipment and supply adequate assistance to workshop employees Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment, Ability to work with CMMS Ability to work under pressure Personnel management skills Must be medically fit and be in possession of a light vehicle driving license and able to obtain a mine site light vehicle driving license.
