Job Description

AbbVie are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in Carraigtwohill, Cork. This is a 23 month fixed term contract. The Maintenance Engineer reports to the Engineering Operations Manager. In this role, you will provide technical expertise for day-to-day production issues, with a focus on reliability engineering, asset management, continuous improvement, and energy/sustainability initiatives.  You will also support manufacturing projects and help keep the site compliant, efficient, and audit-ready.

Key responsibilities

Support day-to-day production issues and reliability engineering activitiesTroubleshoot technical issues and identify the most effective solutionsSupport manufacturing projects in line with quality, safety, environmental, and operational requirementsLead/support projects, training development, and cross-trainingDrive process improvements and Kaizen activitiesWork with EHS to ensure safety of staff and contractorsEnsure compliance with Engineering Change ControlSupport reliability standards for equipment, processes, systems, and utilitiesParticipate in RCAs and implement corrective actionsDevelop business cases for technical improvement projectsImprove maintenance systems and identify technical/financial opportunitiesSupport energy management, sustainability, and asset lifecycle planning
Qualifications
Degree (Level 8) in Mechanical or Chemical/Process Engineering or related subject area2+ years’ experience in a Maintenance Engineering or similar role in an FDA or HPRA regulated environmentExperience in a sterile fill facilityStrong knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirementsExcellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skillsFluent EnglishProficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
