We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with minimum 5+ years of experience in COBOL, JCL and DB2 to join our IT support team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and supporting mainframe applications that are critical to our business operations.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work effectively in a team environment to ensure the seamless operation of our Mainframe Applications, proactively monitoring, and managing incident tickets to support business continuity.
**Your role and responsibilities**
Maintenance and Support: Perform regular maintenance and provide technical support for existing mainframe applications written in COBOL, Assembler, C and DB2. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Code Review and Testing: Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Develop and execute test plans to ensure the quality and reliability of the applications.
JES2/JES3 & System Integration: Work with JES2/JES3 subsystem environments, including job flow understanding, troubleshooting, and spool management. Knowledge of SAPI - (Sysout Application Programming Interface - SSI 79/ SSI 80) interfaces where required for system interactions.
ISPF Panel Development: Develop, customize, and enhance ISPF panels and dialogs to support application interfaces.
Working knowledge of REXX for automation, scripting, ISPF dialog coding, and tooling enhancements.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, business analysts, QA testers, and other developers.
Communication and Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of system incidents and resolutions. Prepare and distribute daily/weekly reports on system performance and issues. Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and support teams to address issues effectively. Ensure that all technical documentation is up to date and easily accessible
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Technical Proficiency: Strong experience in COBOL, Assembler, JCL, and DB2. Ability to write, analyze, and debug complex code. In-depth knowledge of mainframe environment. Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to collaborate and share knowledge with others.
* Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure. Flexible and open to learning new technologies and methodologies.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
Knowledge of REXX is a plus along with other mainframe tools.
Knowledge of DTL is an advantage.
