Job Description SummaryThe Mail Room Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping and receiving operations, including the receipt, inspection, and distribution of incoming shipments. This role ensures accurate inventory management, timely delivery of packages, and adherence to all standard operating procedures. In addition to hands-on responsibilities, the Lead provides guidance to team members, supports workflow coordination, and acts as a point of contact for escalations. Proficiency with systems such as CMMS, FedEx, UPS, Microsoft Outlook, and mobile devices (iPhones) is required to effectively manage operations and communication. This position plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and delivering a high level of customer service.Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations to ensure efficiency and accuracyReceive, inspect, and document incoming and outgoing shipmentsPackage items using appropriate materials and containers (e.g., wooden crates, cardboard boxes, or preassembled packaging)Unpack and examine deliveries; identify, report, and resolve discrepancies such as damages or shortagesServe as the primary point of contact for shipping/receiving inquiries and escalationsEnsure adherence to customer-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including regulated processesTrain, mentor, and provide guidance to Shipping & Receiving team membersMonitor workflow, prioritize tasks, and assign duties as needed to meet operational demandsSafely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds; push loads up to 100 pounds using hand trucks or dolliesPerform and coordinate daily deliveries and pickups across designated locations using a company vehicleMaintain accurate and organized records; ensure compliance with all shipping and receiving protocolsAssist with conference room setups as neededOversee inventory levels and ordering of supplies to ensure operational readinessIdentify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of best practicesPerform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 2–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehouse operationsPrior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferredValid driver’s license required; must be comfortable operating a company van (part-time driving responsibilities)Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skillsProven ability to prioritize tasks, manage workflows, and support team productivityAbility to work independently while providing direction to othersExcellent organizational and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detailComfortable with frequent lifting and physical activityProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics/shipping systems preferred

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $25.39 - $29.87
