**Job Description** The Machinist/Millwright position is essential to our manufacturing team, dedicated to the efficient servicing and maintenance of production equipment. This role encompasses both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks and may involve implementing strategic improvements to optimize equipment performance. In this vital role, the Machinist/Millwright will be responsible for building, repairing, and modifying production machines, machine components, and tooling. Your contributions will directly support our manufacturing team in delivering exceptional quality products to our customers. By demonstrating outstanding troubleshooting skills on both familiar and unfamiliar production equipment, you will play a key role in identifying and executing the most effective repair solutions. Join us in this impactful role and be a driving force behind our commitment to excellence in manufacturing. **TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **ESSENTIAL** + Sets up, maintains, and operates a variety of machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and industrial machines. + Observes and listens to operating machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determines need for adjustment or repair for operations. + Confers with engineers or production personnel to resolve machinery or assembly problems when necessary. Removes machine or mechanism from production area and moves to the Machine Shop using a forklift. + Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type of metal stock required, dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined. Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces using calibrated ruler, micrometer, caliper, and scribe. Plans layout and sequence of operations. Selects feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cuts, and proper cutting tool for each operation. Monitors operation. Regulates tool position and action. + Dismantles machine or equipment using hand tools or power tools, to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part. Cleans parts as needed. Replaces defective part with new part, or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock, using hand tools such as a scraper file and drills, and machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, shaper, borer, and grinder. Assembles and tests operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. + Fabricates machines, mechanisms, and tools (including experimental/ prototype) by consulting with engineers and production personnel regarding design, capacity, purpose, and types of material, etc. to be used for fabricating product. Analyzes written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations. + Designs fixtures, jigs, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs. Sets up and operates machine tools and machines parts to specifications. Verifies conformance of parts, by measuring. + Aligns components for assembly, and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together. Removes high spots and smooth surfaces. + Tests experimental models under simulated operating conditions for development, standardization, and feasibility of design. Install parts such as hydraulic systems, pneumatic or electrical components. Forms and fastens piping fixtures and attachments required to service machine with air, water, and oil. + Evaluates process and makes recommendation for change or modification to improve efficiency and adaptability to setup and production. + Welds, cuts, brazes, or solders parts as needed. + Analyzes problems and makes repairs or replacements to hydraulic systems. + Will be expected to frequently lift and or move materials and or machine parts weighing at least 50 lbs. will be expected to spend at least 75% of time worked in motion. This Job does not normally allow time spent in a chair. + Will be expected to spend at least 50% of time worked on the Production floor environment completing necessary tasks. The Production floor commonly exposes workers to dirty, dusty, loud, hot and humid environments. + Will be expected to work any shift available. + Performs the duties of Tooling Machinist and Grinding Machinist as assigned or as needed. **NON-ESSENTIAL** + Cleans area by keeping tools picked up and organized. Sweeps and wipes up grease and spills as needed. + Performs any other duties as assigned. **SUPERVISION OF OTHERS** At times will be required to act as a mentor with machinist apprentice in machine shop. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + Must have served a 4-year apprenticeship leading to Journey Level Machinist and hold Journey Level papers (or have served the equivalent of journey level). + Seeking a Millwright with over 5 years of experience and desired machining technical skills. Candidates must pass a hands-on machining test to advance to the interview process. + Consideration of a 2-year apprenticeship if candidate has completed an accredited 2+ year Technical/College Machinist technology program within a year and a half prior to applying for this position with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Credentials must be validated to be considered and course subject must meet specific guidelines related to the CCI/Speer apprenticeship program. + Must be able to understand English. + Must be able to read, write, and perform advanced math calculations and be able to recognize improbable results. + Must be able to set up and operate all basic Machine Shop tools and machinery within 3 months. + Must have basic welding skills. + Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic systems. + Must be able to drive a forklift safely within 90 days. + Must have a good safety record. + Must have good housekeeping and organizational skills. + Must supply own hand tools (necessary type and amount for current position). + Ability to work independently without continual supervision. + Must not be prohibited from shipping, transporting, or possessing any firearm or ammunition under the Gun Control Act or Safe Explosives Act. + Must not meet the definition of a prohibited person under 19 U.S.C. 922(g). + Successful candidates must complete and pass a post-employment ATF background check and receive a letter of clearance. + Internal Applicants only: must have no attendance or disciplinary action/written warnings in previous 12 months **Work Environment:** Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations. **Pay Range:** Hourly Rate: $39.48 - $44.24 The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
