Machinist

CNC Machinist (A/B/C Level) responsible for setting up, operating, and inspecting CNC machines to produce parts to specification.

Job Requirements

Experience setting up CNC machines according to work orders.

Ability to load CNC programs into machines and back out tooling.

Ability to prove out programs and make offsets to bring parts to size.

Experience operating CNC mills/lathes in a production environment.

Ability to load and unload parts, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Experience using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/prints and specifications.

Basic computer skills for entering work order completion information into MRP/ERP systems.

Experience inspecting parts to ensure all specifications are met prior to running full batches.

Preferred Skills

Machinist A Level: Able to perform complex set-ups and train other machinists on set-ups; works with Production Manager and Engineering on program issues.

Machinist B Level: Able to perform moderate set-ups; consults with Production Manager on program issues.

Machinist C Level: Able to perform simple set-ups independently; works with Machinist A on moderate and complex set-ups.

Experience changing inserts and tooling during production runs.

Experience participating in or supporting “buddy check” quality systems.

Job Responsibilities

Set up CNC machines in accordance with work orders, including loading programs, backing out tooling, and proving out programs.

Make necessary offsets and adjustments to ensure parts meet size and tolerance requirements.

Operate CNC machines by loading parts, monitoring machine operation during cycle time, and unloading finished parts.

Change inserts and tooling as required to maintain part quality and machine performance.

Enter work order completion and production data into the MRP system.

Inspect all parts produced using micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools to verify conformance to print.

Verify the first piece of each work order before running full production.

Perform “buddy check” inspections on parts produced by other machinists to support quality standards.

Report any non-conforming parts or suspected issues to the Production Manager.

Pay: 22-29

Pay Details: $22.00 to $29.00 per hour
