Could This Be For You?The Machinist produces precision components used in Fillauer's prosthetic products by operating and maintaining manual and CNC machine tools. This role is responsible for interpreting drawings, selecting appropriate toolings, performing accurate measurements, and ensuring all parts meet exacting quality standards. The Machinist works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to support manufacturing needs, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Your Impact Determine dimensions/tolerances of finished parts, sequence of operations, and setup requirements based on blueprints, sketch drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts. Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or parts as a template for future machining. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines (mills, lathes, jib borers, grinders, etc.) Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors (speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut). Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunction or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting controls or media as required. Ability to conduct heat treating on tool steel and oven/furnace operation. Minimum Qualifications Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience.Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures. Additional Success Factors Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and procedure manuals. Understanding of machining processes, materials, tooling selection, and speeds/feeds. Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines. Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Time management skills to meet production schedules. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
