This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 2:30pm - 11:00pm for 2nd shift. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Machining Department Lead oversees daily operations, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met while actively participating in hands-on work. They provide effective communication, manage conflicts, and inspire team members through training and constructive feedback to enhance skills and career growth. Additionally, the Machining Department Lead analyzes situations to make informed decisions, monitors performance metrics, and utilizes data tracking systems to achieve daily goals, while leading the High-Performance Teams (HPT) to drive continuous improvement initiatives. They collaborate with other departments to resolve issues, escalate concerns as necessary, and maintain a safe and organized work environment in adherence to quality standards and organizational objectives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: + Supervise daily operations within the department to ensure productivity and efficiency. + Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. + Monitor team performance and workflow, adjust as necessary to meet production goals and quality standards. + Inspect and evaluate the quality of work produced by the team, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards. + Collect and analyze daily production data, entering information into relevant databases for tracking and reporting purposes. + Utilize a day-by-hour tracking system and actively engage with the team to ensure daily goals are met. + Partner with other departments to coordinate efforts, share resources, and resolve any issues that may impact production and overall operational efficiency. + Address and manage low-level conflicts and disagreements among team members promptly and effectively to maintain a harmonious work environment. + Implement and manage disciplinary procedures as needed, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures while promoting a culture of accountability. + Escalate concerns, production issues, and other necessary items to appropriate leadership or departments to ensure timely resolution and maintain operational flow. + Support and implement training programs for team members to enhance their skills and competencies, ensuring they are equipped to meet current and future challenges. + Lead High-Performance Teams (HPT) to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational processes through BARNS and weekly HPT meetings. + Perform daily hands-on work and actively engage in day-to-day operations alongside team members. + Support the quality initiatives of the company by maintaining compliance with ISO standards and regulations while participating in and supporting internal and external audits to drive continuous improvement. + Follows established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area. + Performs other duties as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) + College degree or certifications, preferred Experience: + 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment + 5+ years of experience operating CNC machinery + Previous experience in a supervisory role or relevant field, preferred + Familiarity reading blueprint, GD&T interpretation and precision measurement + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) + Experience with SharePoint and internal sites, preferred + Familiarity with MSSV, preferred Skills: + Ability to workload management, schedule jobs, balancing priorities, and meeting deadlines + Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. + Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team. + Ability to encourage creativity and innovation within the team. + Ability to manage and resolve conflicts within the team. + Ability to model desired behaviors and work ethic, setting a positive example for team members to follow. + Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry. + Ability to analyze situations critically and make informed decisions. + Ability to work, train, and develop verbal and written instructions. + Ability to speak, read, write, and direct others in English. + Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety. + Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for measurements and quantities. + Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting. + Ability to understand and adhere to quality standards in production processes. Physical Demands: + Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly. + Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. + Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time. + Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time. + Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time. + Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift. + Ability to use power tools and heavy machinery.
