Summary:
Pacific Seafood is seeking a highly motivated Machine Vision & Data Science Intern to support the development and integration of advanced imaging, sensing, and data-processing technologies within our production facilities. This role involves working hands-on with hardware, analyzing large datasets, collaborating with third‑party vendors, and applying machine learning and machine vision techniques to solve real-world quality, safety, and operational challenges. The ideal candidate is passionate about data science, automation, and practical implementation of imaging technologies in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:Apply data‑analysis and machine‑learning methods (e.g., PCA, PLSR, SVM, SIMCA) to support machine‑vision initiatives. Work with digital imaging technologies (RGB and spectral), including sensor calibration and noise reduction. Integrate data outputs into reporting systems and help ensure reliable collection, processing, and feedback. Collaborate with third‑party technology vendors to adapt solutions for facility use‑cases. Assist with real‑world machine‑vision applications, such as: Detecting foreign materialsMonitoring product quality (color, damage, water content)Sorting by species or gradeIdentify opportunities for machine‑vision deployment and support testing to demonstrate value.Perform other duties as assigned.What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:

Required:Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with a graduation date no later than June of 2026, in:Statistics (data analysis, data structures) Robotics or Mechatronics (sensor integration, automation) Related fields such as Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical EngineeringUnderstanding of data-processing concepts and analytical workflows. Experience handling and analyzing large datasets. Familiarity with integrating data into reporting or monitoring systems. Knowledge of digital image processing, including spectral vs. RGB imaging conceptsStrong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage a project from concept to execution.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Preferred: Experience with sensor calibration and noise-reduction methods. Hands-on experience working with imaging or sensing hardware. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to explore emerging technologies.Strong communication and presentation skills.Total Compensation:
