**HIRING ASAP** for a Machine Shop Supervisor!!!
The Machine Shop Supervisor oversees daily operations within a high‑volume machining environment, leading a team of approximately 45 machinists. This role ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with consistent quality. The supervisor is responsible for assigning work, monitoring workflow, coaching employees, and driving continuous improvement across the shop.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 45 machinists across multiple shifts or work centers.
Assign daily work based on production priorities, skill sets, and machine availability.
Conduct regular performance check‑ins, provide coaching, and support employee development.
Address performance issues promptly and professionally, following company policies.
Foster a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment.
Production Oversight
Ensure production schedules are met by monitoring throughput, machine utilization, and labor allocation.
Adjust staffing or workflow as needed to meet changing priorities.
Review production reports and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Coordinate with planning, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues impacting output.
Quality & Safety
Ensure all machining operations meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for quality concerns.
Enforce safety policies and promote a culture of safe work practices.
Conduct regular safety audits and ensure proper machine guarding and PPE usage.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate records of labor hours, production output, scrap, and downtime.
Assist with hiring decisions and workforce planning.
Conduct performance reviews and support compensation or promotion recommendations.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
7-10+ years of machining or manufacturing experience; supervisory experience
Strong understanding of CNC machining, manual machining, tooling, and shop processes.
Proven ability to lead large teams in a fast‑paced production environment.
Solid problem‑solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Strong communication, organization, and time‑management abilities.
Working knowledge of safety standards and quality systems (ISO, AS9100, etc., if applicable).
Work Environment
Machine shop environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and metalworking processes.
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
May require overtime or shift flexibility based on production needs.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of San Fernando, CA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
