Job details We are seeking a highly skilled and precise Metrology Technician to join the 1st or 2nd shift team. Responsibilities:
Plan, program, and execute complex 3D geometrical feature measurements using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
Create robust CMM programs for new, complex componentry, with and without the use of a rotary table, directly from CAD models or other digital data.
Utilize and maintain a variety of high-precision measuring instruments, including CMMs, height stands, micrometers, and calipers.
Perform and direct other required measurements to support quality and engineering needs.
Participate in supplier meetings to resolve part correlation and measurement issues

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Skills:
PPAP Experience: Direct working knowledge of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and the required documentation (e.g., control plans, FMEAs, measurement reports).
Specific CMM Software Experience: Expertise in a particular CMM software platform (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, PolyWorks) relevant to the facility.
Statistical Process Control (SPC): Familiarity with SPC methods and software for trending data and monitoring part quality over time.
Other Metrology Equipment Experience: Experience with additional non-contact or advanced measurement systems (e.g., vision systems, laser scanners, optical comparators).
Fixture/Gage Design: Basic understanding or experience in the design, construction, and validation of custom measurement fixtures or gauges.
Manufacturing Process Knowledge: General understanding of the manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, casting, stamping) that created the parts being measured.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Proven ability to troubleshoot measurement and correlation issues in a cross-functional team environment.

Associates or Technical School degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
CMM Programming Proficiency: Expert ability to create, modify, and execute complex CMM programs for new and existing componentry (with and without a rotary table).
Blueprint and CAD Interpretation: High proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models to define measurement routines.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): Solid, practical working knowledge of GD&T principles to accurately evaluate part conformance to specifications.
Measurement Tool Competency: Proficient, hands-on ability to use and calibrate standard lab measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, height stands, and gauges.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Skill in accurately comparing measurement data to digital models and preparing clear, detailed reports of conformance.
Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to measurement setup, program execution, and correlation discrepancies.
Safety and Quality Compliance: Commitment to understanding and adhering to all current health, safety, environmental, and quality control policies.
Communication: Effective ability to communicate measurement results, issues, and participate in supplier meetings to resolve correlation problems.
