Machine Operator
**Job Title: Machine Operator** **Job Description** Join our team as a Machine Operator at a facility that produces bags of cement mixes for concrete, gravel, and sandbags. In this role, you will operate machinery to fill bags of cement mix, set up machines based on product requirements, and ensure the bags are correctly filled and transported. This position involves repetitive tasks and may require physical effort, including manual lifting of bags. As the environment is dusty, a full-face respirator will be provided for your protection. **Responsibilities** + Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. + Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates. + Observe machine operations to detect product defects or machine malfunctions. + Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance to ensure quality standards. + Perform routine machine maintenance. + Assist other operators in setting up machines and completing tasks to meet deadlines. **Essential Skills** + Experience in machine operation and general production. + Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in packaging, packing, and general labor. + Capability to frequently stand and lift up to 100 lbs. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and disability programs, a 5% 401k match, and health and wellness programs. **Work Environment** Work in a small, dusty shop with a team of five people in production. The facility is equipped with conveyor systems, a dryer/tumbler, tall silos for material storage, bagging machines, and stacking/palletizing machines. The day shift runs from 4am to 2:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with training starting at 8am. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
