Job Title: Utility Operator

Job Description

This hands-on role in the production packaging area involves working in a food production environment. Candidates must adhere to strict hygiene standards, including wearing a full gown and hair net, and must not wear jewelry, makeup, nail polish, or fake eyelashes to prevent food contamination. The role involves making tortillas for various well-known companies in the United States in an environment that can reach temperatures up to 90 degrees.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with a team in the packaging area, including duties such as palletizing, packing/packaging, and machine changeovers.Edit machine programs using a controller to ensure correct job settings, sizes, weights, bags, and speeds.Perform documentation, both written and computerized, of job completions, waste, serial numbers, and quantities.Act as a 'Mini Line Lead' to coordinate break times for team members.Discuss with the operator the products being produced and ensure all packaging materials are prepared for shifts.Monitor and ensure product weights and counts meet quality standards.Accurately record production information in the ERP System (PLEX) and verify serial numbers and quantities.Set code dates for bags and boxes, record finished weights and temperatures, and report loss time and waste.Set up, monitor, and adjust packaging equipment and ensure proper operation by communicating with the maintenance team.

Essential Skills

1-2 years of experience operating production machinery, including equipment set-ups, start-ups, and adjustments.Experience in food production, preferably in a bakery setting.Basic computer skills for data entry into the ERP system.Basic English or Spanish language skills, both written and verbal.Ability to lift up to 50lbs and push up to 30lbs consistently.Comfortable working in hot environments up to 90 degrees and in fast-paced settings.Ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day

Work Environment

This role is set in a food production environment where temperatures can reach up to 100 degrees. The work involves dealing with formulas and dough, so gluten particles may be present in the air. Candidates must be comfortable adhering to strict hygiene standards, including wearing provided attire such as a gown, hair net, beard net (if applicable), and hearing protection.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
