Description Robert Half Permanent Placement is excited to partner with an innovative Steel Fabricator in Olean, NY on their search for an established Machines Operation Manager This key leadership role will manage a team of 10 – 15 employees dedicated to the day-to-day operations of a Plate Processing department. This is a Direct Hire position with a starting salary of $85,000 - $105,000 and a comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will have steel manufacturing management experience, a history of operational success, and a constant safety mindset. Please note: relocation expenses may be offered for the right candidate! The facility is right in the middle of Olean near the university, restaurants, entertainment and much more! Responsibilities include but not limited to: + Supervise and lead production staff providing training, task assignments, and ongoing support + Oversee setup and operation of CNC plasma, laser, and oxy-fuel cutting machines ensuring precision and accuracy in cuts, holes, and bevels + Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards while staying on budget + Monitor and manage inventory of raw materials and finished products, coordinating with procurement as needed + Utilize ERP systems to track performance, manage reporting requirements, and maintain accurate work records + Troubleshoot machine and system issues, assisting technicians to minimize downtime + Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and best practices across the department + Maintain a clean, organized work environment and oversee rigging operations when required Requirements + Degree in a technical field and/or 3–8 years’ experience in steel construction with strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, and assembly processes required + Working knowledge of Tecoi Lazer, THOR, Teknos 32 & Turret, Teknos 73, Viking, or similar plate processing and cutting equipment required + Solid understanding of production cycles, automation concepts, and safety regulations in steel fabrication + Proven leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate, train, and manage shop personnel while fostering a collaborative work environment + Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy + Proficiency in MS Office (Excel), ERP/company management software, and reporting/documentation requirements + Reliable, organized, and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities and ensure shop performance goals are met Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
