**Job Description** **This recruitment offers a $5,000 Signing Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine** **UW Medical Center-Montlake - Heart Institute in Echocardiology** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C).** **WORK SCHEDULE** + Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) + Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm + Day Shift **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** UW Medicine's Echocardiography Lab uses ultrasound to diagnose and evaluate heart problems, creating moving images of the heart to assess function and structure. This non-invasive procedure helps check heart conditions like valve issues, coronary heart disease, and general heart pumping ability. To prepare, you should avoid smoking and potentially caffeine, and your doctor will provide specific instructions for the type of echocardiogram you are having, as some (like transesophageal ) require more preparation than others. **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** + Conveniently located near public transportation + Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve + Opportunity to provide career growth **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records + Transport patients before and after echocardiographic procedures + Recognize and report abnormal patient events and situations, report to ECHO / ECG staff + Be present for portions of the pre- and post-procedure patient education sessions + Update electronic white board. Schedule outpatient and inpatient echo examinations into the electronic white board system and confirm the information displayed is correct and accurate + Schedule new and return appointment In Cardiology / ECHO Tracking systems; Use computer system to check patients in and out of clinics + Prepare and clean exam rooms **REQUIREMENTS** + Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation boardOR equivalent + Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire.
