Job Description

The LVN supports the physician and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing patient care assessments, and a variety of medically related tasks. The LVN is a licensed nurse who works in an ambulatory care setting to provide nursing services.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needsPerforms initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examinationPrepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical recordPrepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visitProvides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection directed by the providerObserves patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking necessary actions for careAnswers patient and physician incoming messages with provider input.Serves as a patient advocate and utilizes appropriate resources to support patient care
Qualifications

Education:

Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program

License/Certifications:

Valid CA LVN license requiredBLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required (BLS expiration date must be valid 60 days from the start date)IV/BW (intravenous/blood withdrawal) certification, must obtain within one year from hire date

Experience: 

1+ years of LVN experience in an outpatient setting preferred
