Low Voltage Technician
Job Description
TEKsystems is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to support commercial structured cabling projects. This individual will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling systems in a commercial environment.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with fiber installation, cable termination, and Fluke testing, and can work independently or as part of a team to meet project timelines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Top Skills Required
+ Experience pulling and installing fiber optic cable
+ Experience testing cabling using Fluke testers
+ Experience terminating copper and fiber optic cabling
+ Experience dressing and organizing cable (preferred)
Responsibilities
+ Perform pre‑termination work including organizing, forming, dressing, labeling cables, and determining proper length and slack
+ Pull, route, suspend, and support cable using cable tray, J‑hooks, D‑rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems
+ Build and install telecom closets, including:
+ Backboards
+ Racks and patch panels
+ Cross‑connects
+ Fiber optic hardware
+ Grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling
+ Install work area outlets for floor and wall locations
+ Terminate CAT3 and CAT5 jacks
+ Mount faceplates and surface‑mount boxes
+ Follow company and customer labeling standards
+ Complete all IDC connections including 110 and 66 blocks and patch panels
+ Perform cable testing and troubleshooting:
+ Continuity testing of horizontal and riser cable
+ Use of volt‑ohm meters and tone sets
+ Troubleshoot opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs
+ Identify active voice and data circuits
+ Accurately complete all required paperwork including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and change orders
+ Follow all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards
+ Perform additional duties as assigned

+ Ability to act as a liaison with customer representatives
+ Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
+ Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
+ Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals
+ Willingness to travel within the branch and/or regional territory as needed

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
