Hours Per Week: Full Time - 36 hours

Schedule: Nights 7p-7a; every other weekend and holiday; 3 12-hour shifts.

SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team.

4200

4200 is a pulmonary medical surgical unit. A total of 37 beds, the Pulmonary Unit provides care to patients with general medical conditions and patients with respiratory illnesses. The 4100/4200 Units specialize in the care of respiratory and general medical issues. This unit has the capacity to care for ventilator patients and telemetry monitoring, as well as other high-acuity respiratory conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Care & Service - Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members.Medication Administration & Reporting - Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols.Documentation - Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process.Preparation - Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required.Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills highly desired.At least 6 months experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
