Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Corrections Location: Roanoke City Adult Detention Center Shift: 6P–6A (36/48 rotation) Contract Length: 8 weeks with likely extensions Start Date: February 19, 2026 Interview Process: Virtual screening Other Requirements: Must work every other weekend (EOW) Job Description Join the healthcare team at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center, where your clinical expertise plays a critical role in supporting the health and safety of an incarcerated population. As a Correctional LPN, you’ll provide essential medical care in a secure environment while working closely with a multidisciplinary team. This assignment offers a unique opportunity to strengthen your acute care and emergency response skills while contributing to public health within the correctional system. Key Responsibilities + Deliver routine and urgent medical care to detained individuals + Assess, triage, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions + Administer medications and maintain accurate MAR documentation + Perform intake screenings and ongoing health assessments + Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and detention staff + Respond to medical emergencies and actively participate in crisis interventions + Provide patient education on preventive care and wellness + Ensure compliance with detention center protocols, safety procedures, and nursing standards Qualifications + Active LPN license (Virginia) + Minimum 1 year of corrections experience + Current BLS certification + TB clearance (PPD, chest x-ray, or acceptable documentation) + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements + Must be 18 years or older + Weekend availability required (EOW) + Willingness to travel or temporarily relocate for the contract + RTO may not exceed 3 days; no major holiday RTO accepted Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
