Job Summary and Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE 

Providing age appropriate care to assigned patients: medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, emergency, same day surgery, swing bed, outpatients, respite  Applying knowledge of basic growth and development in patient care  Incorporating knowledge of the nursing process in the performance of patient assessments  Providing care based on the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient 

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Monitors and interprets patient status/information based on knowledge of growth, development and age; recognizes basic changes based on data collected and keeps RN and medical provider informed  Provision of care is consistent with evidence based practices and principles of infection control  Prioritizes, initiates and completes appropriate interventions based on patient need  Evaluates patient response to action plan and intervenes appropriately ● Recognizes personal/self clinical skills/knowledge and appropriately seeks assistance to meet patient needs  Demonstrates ability to administer medication and treatments safely and effectively  Demonstrates the ability to use, maintain and troubleshoot patient care equipment  Notifies medical providers of patient care needs in a timely manner (abnormal lab values, EKG changes, etc.)  Provides appropriate patient/family education based on assessed needs ● Completes all patient care documentation legibly, according to policy (i.e., nurses notes, admission assessments, care plan, referrals, MAR, etc.)  Must be available to take one on-call shift per pay period.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Required Education and Experience 

Associates Degree in Nursing 

Required Licensure and Certifications 

Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa State Board of NursingBLSACLS, PALS (ACLS & PALS completed within 12 months of employment) will be acquired and maintained. Where You'll Work
