**Job Title: Low Voltage Technician**
**Job Description**
We are seeking skilled low voltage technicians to join our team in the Hampton Roads and Greater Richmond areas. The primary responsibilities include updating systems, running new wires in commercial buildings, and working with electricity ranging from 0-50 volts. Technicians will monitor contractors, handle materials, and provide services for security, audio, video access control, and telecom installations.
**Responsibilities**
+ Install, test, terminate, and troubleshoot CAT5, CAT6, coax, and other low voltage cables for voice/data/video/security in new and existing offices, stores, and buildings.
+ Recognize and locate routers, switches, demarcs, phone systems, access points, printers, and fax machines.
+ Follow installation manuals and install cash registers, computers, printers, and other equipment.
+ Load and unload materials and tools.
+ Safely and efficiently install and connect copper LAN wiring, telephone wiring, and fiber optic cables according to specifications and instructions.
+ Solve installation and connection problems as they arise on the job.
+ Assimilate new methodologies, technologies, and concepts related to cable installation and connection.
+ Maintain proper documentation and paperwork.
+ Work effectively with customers and supervisors.
+ Communicate efficiently with customers and other contractors.
+ Perform job duties with minimal supervision.
+ Train and supervise Assistant Cable Technicians and Helpers.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience.
+ Proficiency in technical skills (e.g., 66 BLOCK, 110 BLOCK, PATCH PANEL, 8 PIN MOD PLUG).
+ Good driving record (DMV report required).
+ Strong computer, tablet, and smartphone skills.
+ Experience with electrical and fiber systems.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ BICSI certification is a plus.
+ DCJS certification is a plus.

**Work Environment**
Work in various retail and commercial spaces including grocery stores, clothing stores, and restaurants. Flexible schedules are essential due to the rotating night/day shifts and occasional out-of-town assignments. The company has a no-smoking policy, and employees must sign an agreement to not smoke 24/7 upon permanent hire.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $42.00/hr.
