Summary: Perform a variety of daily loss recovery (collections) duties with a concentration toward recovery of revenue loss at retail store or corporate level, due to returned personal, business, government, or payroll check items. This is a full time and hourly position.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Direct customer contact by phone, e-mail, or letter in pursuit of financial recovery for returned worthless checks presented at our retail stores or at our Corporate OfficesAdhere to laws regarding collection of debts as established by the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) Discuss and establish fair and practical payment arrangements with debtorsEvaluate likelihood of debt recovery to determine proper course of action to resolve the debt Utilize location and skip-tracing methods to locate debtors to educate of their debt and attain commitment to payment arrangements Thorough documentation of incident detail recorded within Collections System for possible escalation to ORC Team to investigate for potential criminal warrants Enforcement of company policies regarding check presentment for purchase or check cashingForward uncollectible debtor accounts to 3rd party collections agency for Attorney Collections Prepare accounts involving checks written on a closed account or connected to fraud or theft for escalation to ORC Team to investigate for potential criminal warrantsCommunicate regularly with all levels of management, both in stores and at CorporateWork closely with and in support of ORC Team Process payments by Credit/Debit Card for collections of monies owedAssist in managing MSB Compliance files and documentsTrack department metric and KPI data for assigned areasResponsible for attending on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job dutiesEnsure both departmental and company policy and procedures are followed

Qualifications:

High school graduate, with a minimum two-year college degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. 1-2 years Collections experience (preferred)1-2 years Customer Service experience (preferred), and basic knowledge of debit and credit bookkeeping principles.Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) 10-key calculator, and Cisco phone systems.Excellent customer-service skills.Ability to type with speed and accuracy.High level of attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to prioritize, organize, and work effectively and efficiently to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks.Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
