**POSITION SUMMARY**
Responsible for coordinating for the safe and secure shipment of raw materials, intermediate products, finished goods and other miscellaneous materials both domestically and internationally. Responsible for all import/export documentation related to these shipments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to facilitate prompt processing of goods through Customs and applicable health agency inspections.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Coordinate and oversee all export orders from beginning to end, working directly with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
2. Lead all aspects of distribution planning, including but not limited to: conducting denied trade screening, selecting transport mode and route, checking weather, providing packaging instructions, etc.
3. Proactively develop and manage third party relationships and associated agreements.
4. Apply knowledge of incoterms, freight classification codes, and import/export documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
5. Prepare transport paperwork in accordance with letter of credit order requirements.
6. Collaborate with others, both internally and externally, to identify delivery requirements and develop logistics solutions that meet service needs while minimizing cost impact.
7. Research, interpret and apply industry best practices in cold chain logistics, packaging, and international trade in order to promote continuous improvement within the department.
8. Manage logistics processes to enhance service level and drive down costs, including: mode and carrier selection, carrier performance, payload optimization, and order management.
9. Examine the effectiveness of logistics strategies by measuring and assessing key performance indicators related to speed of delivery, supply chain visibility, quality control, customer service and cost.
10. Identify and maintain sustainable processes to ensure timely delivery and no interruption of supply to U.S. and international customers.
11. Recommend ongoing improvements to current processes / procedures to enhance efficiency, compliance and cost savings.
12. Provide analytical support and reporting for different aspects of the supply chain and trade compliance performance.
13. Drive standardization of import/export processes and internal control procedures.
14. Participate in and support quarterly business reviews with supply chain partners.
15. Respond to compliance concerns and critical service issues as they occur.
16. Maintain current knowledge of regulatory and industry standards.
17. Generate thorough written reports, when required, that summarize investigations performed for out-of-specification results or out-of-procedure events.
18. Participate in regulatory and internal inspections/audits including providing written responses as applicable for area of responsibility.
19. Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations.
20. Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations.
21. Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies.
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Associate’s degree required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Emphasis in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field is highly preferred.
2. Minimum of 1 year of related logistics or distribution experience is required.
3. Equivalency: In lieu of an Associate's degree, candidate must have a High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of 3 years of related logistics experience.
4. Requires a basic understanding of the fundamentals of logistics, distribution, supply chain and transportation principles.
5. Basic understanding of cGMPs, FDA regulations, and industry and regulatory guidelines.
6. Familiarity with global logistics terminology and best practices.
7. APICS or ASTL certification desirable.
8. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
9. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions on a routine basis.
10. Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.
11. Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.
12. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.
13. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.
14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
15. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
16. Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
1. Ability to lift /move up to 25 pounds.
2. Ability to sit for extended periods - up to four (4) hours at a time.
3. Manual dexterity to perform all job functions.
Occupational Demands: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.

The estimated starting pay scale for the Logistics & Transportation Specialist role based in Los Angeles, CA, is $73,349 -$91,686 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
