Sr. Assistant, Logistics– Yakima, WA

The opportunity:

As a Senior Assistant, Logistics team member you will be responsible for day-to-day logistical activities for shipping and receiving of the Plant facility. Your role is also responsible for working safely and efficiently, maximizing loads while minimizing shipping costs, and coordinating with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to ensure on-time delivery of customer products and high customer satisfaction. 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Coordinate daily dispatch to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment methodsIdentify opportunities to maximize manufactured square footage (MSF) per trailer to increase utilization of assets and increase cost savingsCoordinate material staging, shipments, pick and pack order fulfillment, expired inventory destruction, and raw and customer-owned inventoryMaintain working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and general routes to create time-efficient shipping schedulesWork collaboratively with Production to assess, manage, and prioritize customer requests to ensure load planning accuracy, mitigate delays, and enable high customer satisfactionPartner with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to coordinate dock times for customer receipt of inventoryAssist with inventory levels and stocktakes as needed.Schedule will be based on operational needs and may include overtime and weekends.

 

What you need to Succeed:

High School diploma or G.E.D.3 years of experience in warehouse environmentGreat written and verbal communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organizationSolid decision-making skills with the ability to adapt and quickly respond to unforeseen changes in the production environmentWell organized with great time management skills to manage the execution of multiple priorities Smurfit Westrock is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The salary range for this position is $36,375.00 - $60,625.00, depending on your role, level, and location.
