Purpose of the Role
Execute tasks as directed by Manager ensuring efficient workflow and quality processes to meet delivery standards and operational goals within the logistics environment. Logistics is defined as all
distribution activities including:
Specimen pickup from PSCs, physicians, hospitals and delivery to laboratory facilities. Delivery of reports and mail to physicians, hospitals and home care facilities. Delivery of indirect materials to PSCs and physicians. Re-deploying of empty bags/containers to all collection points.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics Lead at Site
Accountable for the quality of all logistics activities at the site. The first point of contact with Lab/PSC employees as it relates to site specific changes impacting courier employees. First point of contact for site logistics issue resolution and escalate issues to Manager as required. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe working environment.Operations
Accountable for timely execution of all pickups/deliveries and adherence to routing guidelines. Adhere to Master Route and Employee Schedule and deploy resources on an exception basis due to unscheduled absences. Ensure all communication devices, checklists, keys and any route specific access controls are up to date, organized and accessible. Provide insight and feedback to monthly operations and finance reports. Coordinate fleet repairs, annual licensing, insurance updates and adhere to maintenance schedules. Liaise between Couriers and Call Centre on all issues and inform Manager. Coordinate all specimen transport bag/container replacements.SOPs, Regulatory Compliance and Document Control
Coordinate SOP roll out, track completion and maintain document control. Follow up on non-compliance issues and escalate to Manager as required. Ensure pre/post trip checklists are signed off and stored correctly. Provide assistance as required to explain/demonstrate policies and procedures. Provide awareness and feedback on all matters of policy/procedure non-compliance (eg. Privacy, TDG, EHS) and escalate to Manager as necessary. Ensure all corporate documentation and policies are provided and signed off.Employee Schedules
Coordinate vacation requests with Manager. Approve employee time sheets. Schedule team meetings with Employees and Manager.Employee Orientation and Training
Coordinates orientation for newly hired couriers and ensures coordination of job specific orientation. Recommend enhancement of training materials and update materials as required. Coordinate training for employees and arrange schedules accordingly. Provide driving competency checklist compliance at least once/year with each courier.
What you bring to the role:
High School Diploma or equivalent Requires full valid Class G Driver’s license in Ontario or full valid Class 5 Driver’s license in BC, clean driving abstract. A minimum of 3 years recent experience in courier operations Requires successful completion of LifeLabs Driver Performance Evaluation Office and on-road environments. Deals regularly with automobiles and transportation of biohazardous. materials. Ability to lift and/or maneuver up to 50 pounds: some heavy lifting will be involved. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow and adhere to route schedules. May include working in confined spaces. May include substantial walking, and going up and down stairs. Local frequent stops and/or provincial highway driving Demonstrated ability to show initiative including proactive problem-solving skills. Utilize effective organizational skills including time management. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in written format. Deal with and/or guide others in conflict resolution issues.
