Job Title: Freight Support Specialist

Job Summary

The Freight Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting wholesale, retail, and freight-only operations by managing critical freight documentation, data entry, and application processes. This position ensures accurate and timely delivery confirmations from drivers and third‑party carriers, provides system support and troubleshooting, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines customer service excellence, logistics coordination, and strong analytical skills to support operational efficiency and internal stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage and fulfill complex paperwork requests (e.g., bills of lading, delivery tickets) from internal departments using available systems and toolsEnsure drivers and third‑party carriers complete delivery confirmations accurately and on time across wholesale, retail, and freight‑only operationsDrive data entry compliance by proactively communicating with drivers and carriers via phone, text, and email while meeting or exceeding performance metricsProvide application support and troubleshooting for drivers and carriers; escalate technical issues to IT as neededSupport application enhancements, releases, and operational initiatives by sharing insights from day‑to‑day system useIdentify trends in documentation requests and data entry errors; coach users on proper procedures and recommend process improvementsGenerate, review, and analyze reports related to carrier performance and data accuracyReview system entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established guidelinesAssist with ad‑hoc order entry in internal applications and the TRIPS dispatch system, ensuring accurate and complete informationParticipate in special projects and stretch assignments to support operational and process improvement initiativesModel behaviors aligned with the company’s values and deliver high‑quality service to internal and external customersEnsure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresPerform additional duties as assigned to support freight and logistics operationsEssential Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or logisticsStrong customer service skills with a professional, customer‑focused approachExperience with transportation, freight, and logistics processes, including freight bills and document managementHigh‑accuracy data entry skills, including Excel data entryStrong attention to detail with the ability to identify trends and recurring issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independentlyComfortable working with logistics, transportation, and inventory‑related informationProficient in learning and navigating multiple systems and technologiesStrong problem‑solving skills with sound judgment on when to escalate issuesCollaborative, adaptable team player in a fast‑paced environmentOrganized, reliable, and motivated to improve workflows and processesAdvanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Teams and ExcelStrong aptitude for understanding systems and complex operational processesKnowledge of the fuel and trucking industry and common terminologyPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related fieldFamiliarity with standard logistics and freight proceduresExperience supporting freight operations and inventory processesExperience using dispatch or logistics systems (e.g., TRIPS)Ability to interpret and act on reports related to carrier performance and data accuracyInterest in stretch assignments and continuous improvement initiativesJob Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
