The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Support all aspects of warehouse management and operations in support of the ISS, LSP, and EGS programs. Provide oversight to the LSII (Packing & Crating/Transportation/) personnel and collaborate with Freight Traffic Office to schedule support for loading and offloading inbound and outbound freight. General knowledge of wood shop equipment, packaging specifications, and DOT transportation rules and regulations required. Must currently possess or have ability to obtain CFR49 and IATA certifications for declaring hazards and tendering packages to carriers for shipment of hazardous goods. Prior experience managing hazardous waste processes required. Requires use of safety equipment to perform duties. Required knowledge of 2-20K Forklift operations, ESD, Working at Heights, Bloodborne Pathogens, and a valid Class E Florida Driver's License. Prior experience managing represented work force preferred. Perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities\:
• Take a leadership role in problem identification, problem resolution, product quality, and completing work on schedule.
• Be proactive in working issues with customers and vendors, prioritizing concerns with critical systems utilized by the Warehousing Group.
• Take ownership, from a Logistics perspective, of assigned tasks and systems to assure supportability is maintained.
• Research and provide management with information on systems requiring maintenance or upgrade to support new customer requirements.
• Work with other support groups to ensure periodic maintenance is being performed on equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
• Utilize PeopleSoft inventory and other databases to provide work load information to management to ensure proper staffing is in place.
• Function as part of the Warehousing Group Staff and participate in team meetings, task reviews, and other meetings.
• Responsible for tracking of government property and updating of databases used by the Transportation and Packing & Crating personnel to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Assist area leads in work assignments and pass on overtime requirements daily.
• Become an effective liaison with internal personnel and organizations and external vendors as needed.
• Prepare a variety of formal and informal reports for both internal and external distribution. Work produced represents considerable originality and/or analytical skills within defined areas.
• Coordinate, compile, and prepare a variety of management related information utilizing internal and external department personnel to interpret and recommend action.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
