Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Reads schematics and disarms electronic or mechanic anti-intrusion devices; opens large safe locks or drill through the lock and repair as needed; consults with management as needed, requisition and stock parts (keys, locks, etc.);read blueprints. Repair and/or replace cylindrical and auxiliary locks, repair, replace or install knobs and level spindles, latches, cylinder housings, thumb turns, cams, strikes, reinforcement plates, escutcheons, and latch guards, repair or replacement of rim, concealed, and surface mounted panic and fire exit hardware.
+ Repair of parts by replacing compression springs, roll pins, actuators, dogging pins, link actuators , strikes, screws, and other hardwired as necessary.
+ Participate in the repair, replacement and adjustment of door and floor closures . Installation of door stops, push platesanddoorpulls,repairsandmakeadjustmenttoavarietyofhingesandpivots. Replaced doors, pivots, concealed vertical rods and hinges.
+ Participate in changing out of cores and drilling or picking cores to shear line that cannot be pulled and replaced, cut and duplicate keys as required. Combine core and locks as necessary; recombine, cap, and pin cores for individual door applications. Master key locks; assist with planning and preparation of master keying for new buildings as necessary.
+ Make lock parts including springs, escutcheons, link actuators, compression spring strikes, latch guards and reinforcement plates; custom fit and modify hardware to the application as necessary. Pick locks with special tools and gain access to areas as needed when appropriately requested, during an emergency lockout, or other situations where a key cannot be used.
+ Participate in the disassembling of locks, such as padlocks and replacement of worn springs, actuators, retainers and shackles, repair, install and replacement of mortise locks, gate locks, deadbolts, desk locks, drawer locks, file cabinet locks and all associated parts and hardware.
