About this team
As the Localization Manager, Korea, you lead strategic localization programs and projects as they scale. Working with other localization leaders and cross-functional teams within the company, you analyze and translate business, information, quality and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives. These objectives could be of technical, strategic, or financial nature both internal to the team or with other stakeholders. Following a data-driven approach, you propose changes in processes, workflows, and standards as they relate to continuous improvement of localization and globalization, and oversee the launch and completion of such changes in collaboration with teams and stakeholders involved. You push to break old industry standards and practices in order to effectively create high-quality content, including audio, video, digital and print assets to support global initiatives. You know how to build a strong team of impactful individuals, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and own multiple initiatives while shifting nimbly as our business strategies change and grow. You must be an impressive communicator and make smart decisions despite ambiguity.
A day in the life Oversee Korean localization strategies, requirements & initiatives that deliver a great user experience on non-English points of interactionWork with the Localization team / Center of Expertise located in NA and APACManage the delivery of localization requirements to cross-functional teams, including external stakeholdersIdentify technology, process and tool improvements and efficiency opportunities and drive implementation with the relevant vendor and/or lululemon teamsEstablish, implement and manage language quality measures and best practicesCollaborate with teams across the company to align business goals and strategy with localization requirements, including prioritizationManage and develop lululemon in-market Language Leads to support tech releases, vendor testing and language asset maintenanceAct as a functional lead and provide support for in-market localization specialists, including copywriters, translators and freelancersExecute vendor management including establishing and leveraging quality and capacity metrics to optimize localization vendor performanceCreate and implement performance standards and communication, objective prioritization and workload monitoring for all localization specialistsBalance time-to-market with effective solution options and make the right trade-offs along the wayWork with in-market teams to build a strong network of in-market subtitle and dubbing studios, experienced localization directors and varied voice talentsImplement flexible translation solutions that adapt to business needs as priorities evolveBe the Localization expert and lead point of contact for the wider businessDrive awareness of localization best practices across the wider business
Qualifications:Broad localization experience in marketing, retail, entertainment or similar industryDemonstrated experience in successfully leading and delivering complex localization projects for multiple teamsTranslation or copywriting experience in Korean is a strong advantageExcellent understanding of the language translation process, technology and trendsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from across the business, as well as from external suppliersExcellent communication, written and verbal, skills, at all levels of an organizationIdentifies and analyzes problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant informationStrive to achieve the highest level of quality and efficiencyUniquely you – we value difference and want you to as wellPassionate about languages and translation with an eye for detail and a pride in your workWorks well within a team and loves working in a fast-paced environment on several projects at oncePractises self-awareness, has a natural curiosity and takes an active interest in personal development and sharing knowledgeA graduate from interpretation and translation studies is preferred
