The LOA Case Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive case management for various types of leave of absence and disability life events. This role requires a highly skilled individual who can answer questions, understand employee situations, apply appropriate benefits, and respond to changing circumstances and needs, ensuring a connected and trusted case management experience. Case Managers serve as the single point of contact for employees throughout their leave of absence or disability event.
ResponsibilitiesInitiate and respond to inquiries about leave and disability events, benefits, and options available to employees.Serve as a point of contact for assigned employees, managing 150-200 employee cases, and providing holistic case management services.Review medical documentation to adjudicate leaves in compliance with leave plans, federal and state laws, and benefit plans.Leverage duration guidelines, best practice tools, and company resources to support oversight of leave events.Critically assess and adjust the case management plan according to the employee’s changing needs.Address and respond to sensitive situations, troubleshooting issues and removing barriers during leave events.Ensure effective communication occurs during employee-impacting issues that may arise.Identify and solve problems, sometimes with limited information.Facilitate a smooth return to work and ramp-back plan for employees returning to the workplace.Educate managers and business partners on employee concerns and needs prior to leave or returning to work.Communicate regular updates to employees and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.Ensure compliance with standard work, federal/state regulations, and company policy.Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely information/documentation.Consult, coordinate, and partner with third-party administrators, HR, Safety, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, team members, and other departments as appropriate.Essential SkillsStrong communication skills.Empathy and HR support.Proficiency in case management.1+ years of experience as a case manager using case management systems.Experience in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Strong customer service focus with a high standard mindset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong technical skills and computer aptitude including the ability to learn new systems and navigate multiple systems/windows simultaneously.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of federal or state leave and disability regulations, specifically ADA/ADAAA and FMLA.Experience working with confidential information.Experience providing case management services for a large, multi-state employer or on behalf of a carrier/TPA.Experience providing guidance on leave of absence, disability plans, accommodation, HR, benefits, or employee matters.Work EnvironmentThis position is remote. Candidates must have a dedicated work-from-home setup according to the virtual WFH policy.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
