Summary

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Family Cook/Housekeeper to join a warm and welcoming household based in Fawley, Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is confident in the kitchen, values provenance and seasonal ingredients, and enjoys working in a beautifully maintained country home with access to fresh produce and a thriving kitchen garden.

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of cooking and kitchen organisation, as well as supporting with housekeeping over the weekend. Working closely with the family and their gardener, you’ll harvest, prep, and cook with seasonal ingredients – including wild game, home-grown fruit and veg, and raw dairy. The emphasis is on nourishing, wholesome food, prepared with care and attention to sourcing rather than presentation.

Job specification:

Prepare delicious family lunches and dinners Thursday to Sunday Cook working lunches as required (Thurs/Fri) Harvest and process produce from the kitchen garden Manage household grocery supplies, budget tracking, and kitchen inventory Maintain cleanliness and organisation in all kitchen and storage areas Liaise with the family and gardener on seasonal menus and garden planning Cater for occasional small family gatherings and relaxed outdoor feasts Support with general housekeeping over weekends Occasional light childcare Drive locally for errands and food sourcing (car provided during work hours) Accommodation: Separate 1-bedroom flat onsite Candidate specification: Confident and creative home-style cook with previous professional or private household experience Passionate about fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients Comfortable working with raw dairy, wild game, grass-fed meat, and seasonal vegetables Highly organised with excellent attention to detail Happy to take initiative and work independently Driver with full UK licence – essential Enhanced DBS check required at offer stage & and a current First Aid Certificate
