Live-In Governess Role
An exciting opportunity for a proactive, structured, and educationally focused Governess to join a busy household, supporting three school-aged children, with a competitive salary.

 

Job Summary:

This family is seeking a dedicated and experienced Governess who can confidently take the lead in the children’s daily structure and education. The role involves both morning and after-school support, including planning and preparing meals, supporting homework, and implementing routines around school and bedtime. The family values strong emotional intelligence, excellent planning skills, and a background in early years or educational development. You will be stepping into a key role within the household, often working independently while Dad is at work or travelling.

This role offers flexibility with live-in or live-out options, and the chance to really make a lasting impact on the family’s routine, education, and day-to-day structure. A rewarding role for a confident and nurturing candidate who thrives in organised, child-focused environments.

 

Job specification:

•         Supporting children’s educational progress through structured homework supervision, reading, and storytelling

•         Creating a calm, organised after-school environment that promotes focus and academic confidence

•         Encouraging learning through play, including age-appropriate creative and educational activities

•         Helping children to develop good habits around organisation, time management, and responsibility

•         Communicating regularly and staying informed of school performance and progress

•         Supporting the morning routine to ensure a positive, focused start to the school day

•         Overseeing bedtime routines, encouraging healthy sleep patterns

•         Planning and preparing balanced meals to support physical and mental wellbeing

•         Creating and maintaining a weekly children’s menu

•         Running errands, completing children’s laundry, and keeping children’s spaces tidy

•         Assisting with school runs if required

 

Candidate specification:

•         Energetic, positive, and active

•         Proactive and highly organised – able to plan and anticipate needs

•         Strong background in education or child development (teaching or nursery experience highly desirable)

•         Naturally firm but fair – confident in setting boundaries and routine

•         Excellent communicator and able to build respect and trust with children

•         Must be flexible, adaptable, and happy to take initiative

•         Clean UK driving licence required

•         Genuinely passionate about child development and helping children thrive

•         Experience managing busy household routines, and ability to step in confidently during solo care periods

Accommodation:

•         Separate bedroom with en-suite within the main house

 

Enhanced DBS check required at offer stage & and a current First Aid Certificate
