**Your role and responsibilities**
As Linux Database Technical Solution Specialist you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting data serving solutions on IBM LinuxONE. This position requires new and innovative solutions to support our customers complex performance, cost, security and sustainability and hybrid cloud goals. The role includes coordinating the technical resolution of infrastructure problems through knowledge of platform design and development. This role will collaborate with and assist teams with different skills to resolve problems and return infrastructure to operational status, including performing support related to all infrastructure issues, correcting design defects, and developing solutions to stabilize environments.
In addition, this role will facilitate communications between technical teams and customers to ensure technical support requests are resolved rapidly with user satisfaction.
The candidate should have expertise in Linux systems administration with skills in database configuration and administration (Oracle, MongoDB, EDB PostGreSQL, or other Open Source Databases). Experience in performance, high availability, backup and recovery, monitoring and security concepts is preferred. Proficiency in Linux (Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu) integrated with Docker / Kubernetes, DevOps, Automation and Nginx / Apache are key for role success.
Primary duties:
* Setting up and configuring internal and external database instances (Oracle, DB2 UDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB)
* Setting up and administering container-based data serving solutions and Linux infrastructure in a Hybrid cloud environment
* Create solution assets and provide technical enablement for customers through webinars, briefings, and proof of technology hands on labs/classes
* Ability to provide SME advisory engagements, and Proof of Technologies (POTs) for customers to help compare LinuxONE to their existing or future technologies
* Help customers evaluate IBM LinuxONE solutions (e.g. compression, quantum safe encryption, security, and AI) and help LinuxONE customers leverage these new technologies and troubleshoot performance/technical problems
* Work with IBM and 3rd Party technical support teams to help resolve technical issues utilizing standard support and escalation processes
* Design, create, and maintain automation scripts, workflows, and infrastructure on Linux systems for customer-facing products
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Extensive experience in Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE) and infrastructure projects
* Experience in setup and configuration of database instances (e.g. Oracle, DB2 UDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB)
* Proven effective communication and presentation skills, teamwork
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Linux shell’s, Python and Bash for infrastructure automation and applications.
* Experience & knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and their security/sessions/logging
* Experience in integration with 3rd party platforms/solution through REST APIs
* Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
* Readiness to work in US Eastern time zones
* Highly self-motivated and resourceful, Aptitude to learn and apply knowledge quickly
* Fluent in English
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Working knowledge of IBM Z and LinuxONE
* Expert problem solver and root cause log analysis
* Ability to design and conduct Proof of Concepts (POCs), Proof of Technologies (POTs)
* Ability to present technical presentations to technical leaders and executives
* Experience in DevOps pipelines creation and debugging
* Practical experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), monitoring tools (Instana, Grafana, Prometheus) and virtualization technologies (e.g. z/VM, KVM, OpenStack).
