Responsibilities

The Linen Specialist-Driver role is vital in the healthcare care setting ensuring the availability of hygienically clean linen for patients and staff while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction. This position involves performing linen specialist duties, safely operating a delivery truck and be proficient in maneuvering into dock bays. Follows traffic laws, DOT regulations, and safety protocols. Perform preventative maintenance on delivery trucks, including vehicle inspections and ensuring functionality of motorized equipment. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, delivering, and replenishing clean linen throughout the hospital campus’, clinics and regional sites. Accurately track linen stock levels, manage inventory, and input data into various software applications. Provide quick responses to urgent linen requests within site-specific guidelines. Ensure safe handling, transport, and containment of soiled linen, following infection prevention protocols. Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement efforts to enhance service and efficiency. Ensure proper use and maintenance of motorized equipment for linen transport. Expedites emergency linen requests and assist in managing linen at multiple locations if needed. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Must be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with leadership, staff, patients and other departments. Must be able to accurately identify textile attributes for various patient needs. May be required to float to regional sites to provide coverage support. Expedites emergency linen requests and assist in managing linen at multiple locations if needed. Requires strong attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.



Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent required. On the job training is provided. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Proficient in Outlook and computer applications. . Requires physical tasks including manually transporting linen carts, continuous walking throughout the shift, and duties related to freight distribution.  Experience with truck operation and maintenance including filling diesel, anti-gel, plugging in the diesel engine block, and vehicle inspections is preferred. Must maintain a clean driving record and the ability to pass random drug tests. Valid Driver’s license and DOT Medical certification required.
