Line Technician
**What´s the role?** As a Line Technician you will maintain system levels as specified in system operating instructions; will calculate amplifier output; set and replace distribution and line extender amplifiers. You’ll also diagnose and change out power supplies and line amplifiers in the field, as required. **How can you add value?** + Accurately use, store, and maintain VOM, DMM, system sweep, bench sweep, return loss bridge, spectrum analyzer and waveform monitor. + Set trunk levels, set-up and change out trunk amplifiers, calculate signal level losses in cable and equipment for trunk lines and distribution lines, including fiber optic cables. + Perform installation, repair, and stabilizing of nodes daily. + Install electronics, make power supplies connections, balance and test battery loads and power supplies stand by operations. + Accurately use, stores, and maintains all test equipment used in systems. + Conduct system tests such as: signal/noise, signal/hum, summation, and sweep, chart recording, return Loss Bridge, including monthly, semi-annual, and annual tests. + Assume full responsibility for trouble shooting and repair of the entire distribution and trunk system. + Responsible for working with and handling contractors, preparing detailed work prints, writing Job Cost estimates, and creating a bill of materials (BOM) for aerial and underground projects. + Responsible for project through to completion, including, monitoring contractor progress up to and including processing of invoices from contractors to assure Company specifications are met. + Assist and effect interface for required revisions to strand and design maps. + Climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed. Lift and carry loads of up to 150 lbs. using appropriate equipment. + Safely and efficiently operate tools including OTDR, fusion splicer, power meter, light and traffic meter, ladders, step ladders, truck mounted aerial lift devices, and assorted hand tools. + Resolve digital problems from HSD modem back to distributions, front line, optical nodes to head-end. + Solve problems power supplies as required. + Perform field engineering to include assessing the site, detailing the layout, resolving proposed location of electronics equipment (such as node locations, power supplies, taps and amplifier locations). + Operate Bucket Trucks in compliance with company safety procedures. + Responsible for using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided by the company. + Perform temporizations of feeder and trunk cable. Perform all work in a safe manner ensuring the safety of co-workers, customers, the general public, and the employee. All work is done in mentorship with the National Electric Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and OSHA regulations. + Drive Company vehicles every single day and maintain an accurate inventory of vehicle stock. + Demonstrate and ensure compliance with The Customer 1st Philosophy, Liberty Latin America Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures. + Other functions that may be assigned. **What do you need?** **Education and/or Experience** High School Diploma is required. Associate degree in electronics, preferred. 1-2 years of proven technical experience in the CATV industry.
