Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The NBC News Breaking News Specials team is seeking a skilled Line Producer to help lead the control room during breaking news coverage and support Specials/Nightly News. You’ll work closely with the Senior Producer to ensure all production elements are in place for seamless live broadcasts during major news events.

Responsibilities:

Build and manage rundowns, ensuring all segments, graphics, and video elements are ready for airHelp coordinate field teams, booking and live remotes during major breaking newsServe as a primary editorial/control room contact during weekend daysCollaborate with Senior Producers and the Specials team to anticipate resources needed for major-event coverageTroubleshoot technical or logistical issues in real time to minimize on-air disruptionsPartner with technical, graphics, audio, and talent departments to maintain top-tier production qualityProduce live cut-ins, special segments, and additional content as neededMust be willing to backfill Weekend Overnight Breaking News Senior Producer approx. 4-6 weeks a year, as lead editorial watch for breaking news between Nightly and Today

Qualifications3+ years of line producing or coordinating live broadcast news programmingBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving parts under tight deadlinesExcellent communication skills for collaborating with across editorial, technical, and talent teams under tight deadlineExpertise in control-room operations from rundown creation through final sign-offExcellent editorial judgment with knowledge of NBC News StandardsProficiency with automated control-room systems and rundown tools—or clear aptitude to learn them quicklyFlexibility for overnight and weekend schedules, including holidays with on-call availability for unplanned breaking-news shiftsMust be willing and able to work in person at 30 Rock Saturday thru Wednesday

Additional Requirements:

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary range: $110,000 - $125,000
