This vacancy is located at Bridge City Center for Youth in Bridge City, Louisiana.
The Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) serves youth who have been adjudicated delinquent or Families in Need of Services (FINS). We are responsible for youth assigned to our care by the court system, for either supervision or custody in residential placement or secure care. OJJ also provides services to youth under local court

Minimum Qualifications
+ Minimum age of eighteen at the time of application.*
+ High School Diploma or GED.**
+ A current, nationally recognized Lifeguard Training Certification from a professional provider.**
+ A current, nationally recognized Community First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification* from a professional provider.**
+ A current nationally recognized Water Safety or Swim Instructor Certification from a professional provider.**
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify applicant is at least 18 years of age though the applicants state issued identification card, driver's license or birth certificate.
** Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and certifications claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Job Specification
Life Guard Duties -
+ Remain alert and attentive while on duty.
+ Scan the pool for distressed swimmers and respond accordingly.
+ Enforce all pool rules fairly and consistently.
+ Respond to emergencies in an appropriate manner according to guidelines and training.
+ Greet and check in students and staff.
+ Remain attentive to signals made by other Lifeguards.
+ Maintain pool deck and grounds.
Job Duties and Other Information
Position-Specific Details:
The incumbent of this position will serve as a WAE lifeguard for Bridge City Center for Youth.
Appointment Type: Part Time
Work Schedule: 3 days a week. 8 hour shifts
Compensation: $18.00 hourly
No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
