This role is responsible for driving, delivering, and optimizing new capital projects, technical transfers, and CMC process development within the life sciences sector, with a particular emphasis on advanced digital manufacturing and smart operations initiatives.
Illustrative activities:
Lead and Execute Life Sciences Capital Projects: Oversee end-to-end delivery of complex GMP-regulated capital programs—from concept, user requirement specifications (URS), and vendor selection through qualification and operational handoff. Ensure timelines, resources, and risk mitigation are optimized to meet evolving commercial and R&D priorities. Drive Technical Transfers & CMC Process Development: Partner with global and cross-functional teams (Quality, Validation, Automation, Engineering, Operations) to standardize and scale manufacturing capabilities. Ensure compliant, scalable, and repeatable processes for new product introductions and technical transfers. Deliver Smart Manufacturing & Industrial IoT Solutions: Architect and implement digital modernization roadmaps. Leverage platforms such as AWS, OSI PI, MES systems, MQTT, Cognite, and HighByte for digitized data collection, predictive analytics, and real-time operational insights. Embed Operational Analytics & Data-Driven Improvement: Deploy AI-driven analytics and self-service reporting tools to enhance manufacturing performance, improve customer satisfaction, and accelerate value realization across global biotech organizations. Stakeholder Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Act as liaison between operational teams and executive leadership. Translate technical requirements and regulatory needs into actionable projects and measurable business value. Customer-Centric Program Governance: Own governance frameworks to align KPIs/OKRs, track ROI, and standardize engineering/validation practices across multiple sites. Lead customer-focused initiatives in digital training, continuous improvement, and value-based client engagement. Basic QualificationsRequired:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent 9+ years’ experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, capital project management, or digital operations leadership Experience with new capital project delivery, technical transfer, and CMC process development for regulated life sciences environments Deployment of smart manufacturing/IIoT applications (AWS, OSI PI, MES, MQTT, Cognite, HighByte, etc.) Experience leading programs for global enterprises and/or major pharma clients Expert in standard engineering and validation practices (URS, FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ) Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the futurePreferred:
