Volt is immediately hiring a Senior Licensing Engineer, with NRC experience, for a remote opportunity with an industry leader in their field.
As a Senior Licensing Engineer you will:
Perform engineering regulatory analysis, conduct licensing engagements, and develop regulatory submittals for various types of water-cooled reactors, in support of qualifying and commercializing the product.
Developing and leading topic specific regulatory engagements and/or submittals. Developing regulatory analysis and managing regulatory requirements for specific topics. Reviewing technical information provided in submittals to ensure alignment between client’s regulatory request and the technical bases provided. Communicating licensing approach, and regulatory requirements to technical and stakeholder organizations. Preparing technical and licensing teams for and leading receipt of topic specific regulatory audits.This is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
BS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 5 years relevant experience, or MS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 4 years relevant experience, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 3 years relevant experience. For exceptional candidates, relevant work experience may substitute for years of experience. Experience interacting with at least one of the following governmental agencies in a licensing or regulatory affairs capacity: U.S. NRC, CNSC, ONR, ASNR, FANR, DOE, NNSA, NR, and state-level nuclear regulator. Experience working with 2 or more of these organizations is advantageous. Working experience at operating reactors and/or fuel production facilities. Working experience with nuclear fuel designs and associated regulatory submittals. General understanding of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, safety analysis, special materials transportation licensing, fuel cycle facility licensing, or nuclear fuel design. Experience in area of metallic fuels, especially U-Zr, is advantageous. Familiarity with ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements. Experience working closely with industry, national laboratories, and nuclear regulators is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-salving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to access US National Labs and other relevant facilities
Salary: $122K-$158K+ DOE
*Salary range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
