Mission
The mission of the LSLBC is to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public dealing with those engaged in the contracting vocation; to afford such persons an effective and practical protection against the unlawful and fraudulent acts of contractors with whom they contract; and to maintain the integrity of the construction industry. Further, the Board shall monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with the licensure requirements of the statutes.

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Licensing Analyst to join our team. In this vital role, you’ll help ensure the integrity and safety of Louisiana’s construction industry by managing contractor licensing from application through compliance. This role allows diverse responsibilities that blend administrative, investigative, and customer service elements, offering variety in day-to-day tasks.
Key Competencies:
Analytical Skills:Ability to evaluate financial documents, legal filings, and insurance coverage to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Attention to Detail: Reviewing and verifying credentialing documents, licenses, and applications requires high accuracy and thoroughness.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication for interacting with applicants, licensees, legal entities, and state boards.
Technical Proficiency: Competency in data entry and database management.
Investigative & Decision-Making Abilities:Conducting interviews, evaluating qualifications, and making eligibility determinations.
Customer Service Orientation:Assisting contractors and licensees with the application and renewal processes.
Organizational & Multitasking Skills:Managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Review and evaluate contractor license applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Louisiana laws and Board rules.
+ Analyze financial statements, insurance documentation, and legal records to verify applicant qualifications and determine eligibility.
+ Monitor active licenses to ensure correct classification, renewal compliance, and current insurance coverage.
+ Conduct background investigations and applicant interviews to assess character, competency, and legal standing.
+ Respond to inquiries from applicants, contractors, insurance agents, attorneys, and the public regarding licensing procedures and requirements.
+ Input, update, and maintain applicant and licensee records in the Board’s database systems and physical files.
+ Collaborate with the Enforcement Legal Divisions on complaints, violations, and enforcement of unlicensed activity.
+ Prepare and present documentation for administrative hearings and Board meetings; may serve as a departmental representative when needed.
+ Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and meetings to remain current on industry standards and regulatory practices.
